NATURAL SWEETENER – OLIGO FRUCTOSE 
( FRUCTO OLIGOSACCHARIDE)
Oligo comes from the Greek word meaning “few” and Saccharides meaning Sugar. Oligosaccharides consist of a short chain of sugars.
While carbohydrates such as starch and cellulose are called polysaccharides ,complex 2 -10 molecules of such monosaccharides as glucose and fructose are called Oligosaccharides.
Fructo Oligosaccharides are widely distributed in plants such as onions,wheat,chicory,barley, banana and are obtained from Sucrose by the action of fructosyltransferase.
FOS is virtually undigested by the human digestive system so arrives in the colon unaltered providing a food source of beneficial bacteria.
The human digestive tract lacks the enzymes necessary to break down fibers, allowing them to pass through the digestive tract and provide many of the health benefits.It acts like a fiber, passing undigested to the large intestine where it is extensively fermented by the colonic bacteria.
Prebiotic fibers like short chain FOS are known to selectively modulate the composition of the intestinal microbiota. Prebiotics are defined as non-digestible carbohydrates that stimulate the growth of beneficial microflora in the gut.
FOS has a Low Calorific Value and it also Enhances the absorption of magnesium and calcium.


POLYOL SWEETENER – ISOMALT (Powder )
Isomalt is made from Sugar beet and has a Natural , Mild sugar like taste. It is produced by a two stage process – an enzymatic treatment of sucrose is followed by hydrogenation.
Isomalt has a very similar organoleptic profile to sugar. It has little to no impact on the blood sugar levels and does not stimulate the release of insulin.
It has a very low glycemic index and is ideal for Weight Watchers , Calorie conscious and Diabetics.
Isomalt is a Polyol which are carbohydrates but they are not sugars , making them sugar free sweeteners . They are Low -digestible carbohydrates used as sugar replacer.
